About 6 ounces of meat on every sandwich with our famous rye bread, or whatever you choose, creates a huge, two-handed meal. No Cryovac, no processed pieces parts, just fresh meat | 85% beef, 15% rye bread, 100% Shapiros!
No Cryovac, no processed pieces parts! We start with a navel of beef, smoke it with our secret spices and rub, and slice it hot when you order your sandwich. Our delicious, house-made corned beef piled high with two slices of German-Swiss cheese, a thick splat of Russian dressing, and Shapiro's cole slaw in the middle of the meat grilled to a golden brown served with our pickle for the perfect blending of flavors in one sandwich!
Our famous Reuben made with our delicious pastrami! You can also order a Corn-ami Rueben; part corned beef + part pastrami with all the same goodness as a Reuben
Made with our famous pastrami, we use our house-made cole slaw and grill the Reuben to perfection

Half Shapiro's corned beef and half Shapiro's brisket make up this sandwich
Pastrami, Lettuce, Tomato sandwich. We take our fantastic pastrami and cook it into "bacon". We add fresh lettuce and a thick slice of tomato; you pick the bread and you have a bargain sandwich in your hands
Half Shapiro's famous pastrami and half our turkey, you pick smoked or roasted. Food for thought! The pastrami is hot and the turkey is cold
Marc Summers from the Food Network did a show where his "Best thing I Ever Ate" was Shapiro's Delicatessen's peppered beef. Again, no Cryovac! It's a cut of beef, but this one is served cold. It's a different taste profile than our corned beef and pastrami. Some like it better, some prefer our hot sandwiches. Who's to say?
Another fabulous sandwich that's the best of the best beef category. Our rare roast beef is cooked to a beautiful pink tenderness for a moist treat on any bread. * If it were hot, it would no longer be rare roast beef. For hot roast beef, try our Beef Brisket
We were out of this during the early days of Covid. We were close to a mutiny by our regular customers who love this salami! It is created especially for us by our corned beef supplier Vienna Beef in Chicago. It's our recipe that they make for us. (see our logo on the package?)
Smoked or oven-roasted, this is a very big seller for Shapiro’s! The Shapiro turkey sandwich has a cult following. Hormone-free and antibiotic-free, you can taste why it’s a favorite
Two words, chicken schmaltz. We make our own from all of the whole, fresh chickens that we get from Central Indiana and it is the key ingredient in Chopped Liver. You can get a sandwich or a "schmear" of chopped liver on top of another sandwich. My favorite is our rye bread heels, crusty and crunchy with a scoop of our creamy and rich chopped liver
Where else will you find a tongue sandwich than at the home of the best quality beef in the Midwest? Try it! It actually tastes a lot like our corned beef. This is a Thursday only special
All beef is frank without the dyes and strange pieces of cow that the cheap companies include in their hot dogs. Kosher style means that they "answer to a higher authority"
This Russian recipe is one of our hidden secrets of the menu. Not for celiacs, we add breadcrumb blends to this amazing value of our menu!
Our chickens are so fresh that they come to us on ice without any plastic or Cryovac processing. Our fresh Indiana chickens are never frozen! We cook whole chickens, de-bone them by hand, and use the highest level of mayonnaise, grapes, celery, and herbs for an amazing scoop of deliciousness! Comes with your choice of bread
Our all-white-meat Albacore tuna salad is made with quality fish, with just enough hard-boiled egg whites and seasoning to make a statement of its own. Try it on a flaky croissant with lettuce and tomato
Even a Grilled Cheese sandwich is special at Shapiro's Delicatessen. You tell us which cheeses you want and we'll grill it up for you! Order a cup of chili and a Dare Devil Beer on a cool day and that just screams fall to me!
A full sandwich with about half the meat
Brisket or Roast Beef - it's the same thing. A beautiful cut of beef with no fillers or processed crap! (and smaller)
This sandwich is served cold. It's rare roast beef so it's pink. If it were hot, it would be our Brisket sandwich. (and smaller)
Marc Summer's favorite! Served cold but "Rebecca" means that it's a smaller sized sandwich
Another deal of a sandwich for under six bucks. Try and find chopped liver made in house in Indy...NO ONE makes it fresh except us
We get fresh, never frozen chickens. We cook the chicken. We use the meat for our chicken salad and the bone broth we just made becomes the stock for our chicken soup! No nasties and no chemicals or preservatives! (also, no onions) Again, under six bucks!
Highly sustainable Albacore Tuna is all white meat for the best tuna salad in the city. You got it, under six bucks!
A smaller version of the delicious Turkey Reuben sandwich. You choose NY (cole slaw) or traditional (sauerkraut)
These highly loved noodles are a favorite comfort food for our regular customers! Available after 4pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Two sizes available
We may not sell this until the price to us drops. They keep raising fees and the prices to us have gotten out of control. This is the finest cut we sell but it's too expensive. It has a finer trim and is sold cold. HOT CORNED BEEF is available for less money but won't be packaged until you arrive to ensure it's hot temperature. It will need to be REHEATED because it has more fat
Choose from soup specials or daily soups. Most sandwiches are available for this option. (We can't grill half a Reuben, no croissants, no hot dogs) Some choices have an upcharge). Oh yeah - it says soups, so not stews or chili!

House made pastry, cream filling and covered with delicious chocolate!
Fluffy pastry filled with pastry cream and a layer of raspberry goodness
Pastry, cream filling, then dipped in chocolate! What could be bad about this combo?
YES! We make these in house! An Italian treat of a hard shell pastry filled with mascarpone and crushed pistachios! A sweet traditional dessert
Lean over to eat these! So much powdered sugar and flakiness! 4 to an order
We use real butter in all of our baking! You can taste the difference because ours are just better. Crispy and delcious
Two flavors available
Do you like the crunchy top or the creamy middle? Ask for the part you like the best!
Hand-peeled potatoes, real butter, freshly seasoned
Great Uncle Max started making our potato latkes much larger than normal! But we still give you two anyway. The crunchy outer part is the best for dipping in apple sauce or sour cream. You pick which you want to go with your order
Hot, seasoned, and (look closely) our corned beef is added for extra flavor
Again with the hand peeling! It is extra labor, but it tasted so much better because it's fresh. Others buy bags of cubed potatoes that are sprayed with chemicals and we wouldn't do that!
This is Shapiro’s specialty: broccoli florets, beef bacon, sunflower seeds, and onion combined with a creamy house-made dressing and a little squirt of lemon
We buy whole cabbages, chop them ourselves, and make our own Shapiro’s family recipe coleslaw from scratch

Choose either Roasted or Smoked when you order. The smoked is organic but both taste amazingly good. We sell about the same amount of each so you'll have to decide for yourself on which you prefer
We go through so many whole chickens so we are able to create the schmalz ourselves
Pound | Pan Our mac & cheese is kinda our thing!
